What is Harper Clare knitwear made from?

Is your knitwear suitable for newborns?

Harper Clare is an Australian-owned small business, and every piece is designed in Australia. Our knitwear is made in China by trusted manufacturing partners, using soft 100% organic cotton. We design each piece focusing on comfort, timeless colours and quality finishes.
Are your pieces gender neutral?
Yes, Harper Clare offers a range of gender neutral baby clothes and unisex newborn outfits. Do colours vary from what I see online?
We photograph our knitwear in natural light and edit our images as little as possible so the colours match the real thing. We also work with professional photographers, and each one has their own lighting and editing style, so the same colour can look slightly warmer or cooler from one photo to the next. Screens display colour differently too, and natural organic cotton has subtle variation from batch to batch. Our earthy neutrals, such as Earthy Taupe, Dusty Clay and Milk White, can look a little different depending on your device settings and the lighting around you. What size should I choose for a newborn?
Harper Clare knitwear is available in Newborn (size 0000) and 0-3 months (size 000) in select styles. Choose Newborn (0000) for a snug, closer fit in the very early days, which is ideal for coming home outfits and newborn photos. Choose 0-3 months (000) for a more relaxed fit with room to grow, which suits babies who are a little bigger at birth or who you’d like to wear their outfit for longer. If you’re between sizes, we recommend sizing up, as our organic cotton knit is soft and stretchy. What's the difference between Newborn and 0-3 Months?
Newborn (size 0000) is our smallest size, with a closer fit designed for the very early days, making it ideal for coming home outfits and newborn photos. 0-3 Months (size 000) is our signature relaxed fit, with a little extra room to grow, so your baby can wear it for longer. Both sizes are made from the same soft, breathable 100% organic cotton knit. Are your rompers true to size?
Our rompers are designed to fit true to size, in Newborn (0000) and 0-3 Months (000). Newborn has a closer fit for the early days, and 0-3 Months has a relaxed fit with room to grow. Because our organic cotton knit is soft and stretchy, there’s a little give for growing babies. Every baby is different, so if you’re between sizes or your baby is on the bigger side, we recommend sizing up. Do you offer free shipping?
Yes, we offer free standard shipping within Australia on all orders of $130 or more. The offer applies automatically at checkout, so there’s no code to enter, and you can follow your progress in the free shipping bar in your cart. To reach $130, try adding a matching piece or one of our bundles, which are popular for gifts and coming home outfits. For orders under $130, standard shipping is calculated at checkout before you pay.
Is local pick-up available?
Yes! We offer local pick-up from:

- Croydon (available on selected days)
Simply select Local Pick-Up at checkout and we'll contact you with collection details once your order is ready.
Where will my order be shipped from?
We're based in Melbourne, Australia, and every order is carefully packed and shipped from our home studio.
How much is shipping?
We offer free standard shipping within Australia on all orders over $130. For orders under $130, standard shipping is a flat rate of $12. Orders are dispatched within 1 business days.

How quickly will my order be dispatched?
Orders are dispatched within 1 business day of being placed, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Once your order ships, you’ll receive an email with a tracking number so you can follow it to your door.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Harper Clare ships to New Zealand, the USA and Canada, with international shipping rates calculated at checkout based on your destination. Orders are dispatched from Melbourne, Australia within 1 business day.

Can I track my order?
Once your order has shipped, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number and a link to follow your parcel. You can also check your order status by logging in to your account on our website and viewing your order history, or by clicking the order status link in your confirmation email. Tracking updates may take up to 24 hours to appear after your order ships. If your tracking hasn’t updated after 1 business day or you haven’t received a shipping email, check your spam folder or contact us at hello@harperclare.com.au with your order number and we’ll happily help. Returns & Exchanges
What is your returns policy?
Any item returned to Harper Clare must be returned in its original condition, including:
- Original packaging
- Original tags attached
- Unused and unwashed
- Free from stains, odours, marks, or damage
Clearance items are final and cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded unless deemed faulty under Australian Consumer Law.
Shipping costs from the original order are non-refundable.
Return postage costs are the responsibility of the customer.

What if my item arrives damaged?
All products undergo a quality check before dispatch.
In accordance with Australian Consumer Law, if you receive an item that is faulty, damaged, or not as described, you may be entitled to a refund, exchange, or store credit. All faulty item claims are subject to inspection.
To lodge a claim, please email hello@harperclare.com.au within 7 days of receiving your order and include:
- Your full name
- Order number
- Product name
- A description of the issue
- Clear photos of the fault or damage
Once assessed and approved, we will provide an appropriate resolution, which may include a refund, exchange, or store credit.
Can I cancel my order?
If you need to make a change to your order, please contact us as soon as possible at hello@harperclare.com.au.
We'll always do our best to accommodate changes before your order has been packed or dispatched.
Unfortunately, once your order has been shipped, we're unable to make any changes or cancellations.

What currencies do you accept?
Our prices are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) by default. You can switch to New Zealand dollars (NZD) or US dollars (USD) using the country/region selector at the top of the page. The total you’ll pay is shown at checkout before you confirm your order.
Will I be charged import duties or taxes on international orders?
For most international orders, duties and taxes are calculated and collected at checkout through our shipping partner, so there are usually no surprise charges when your parcel arrives. USA orders are calculated through Zonos and paid before dispatch. In some cases, customs authorities may still charge extra fees on arrival, and these are the customer’s responsibility. How do I wash and care for my organic cotton knitwear?
To keep your Harper Clare pieces looking their best:

- We recommend using a wash bag
- Dry flat in the shade to help retain shape

- Do not dry clean
- Do not bleach, soak or wring

How should I store keepsake pieces?
To help preserve your Harper Clare knitwear for years to come, we recommend storing keepsake pieces clean and completely dry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Fold garments neatly rather than hanging them, as knitwear can naturally stretch over time. For extra protection, store treasured pieces in a keepsake box, cotton storage bag or acid-free tissue paper to help maintain their shape and condition.
